mouth taping for beginners
It’s simple. Place a strip over your closed mouth before bed signalling your body to activate nasal breathing opposed to mouth breathing. This promotes positive change in your body, including a more deep and restful sleep.
Try using the mouth tape for a full night and analyse how you feel in the morning. If you wake up refreshed and feeling better, you’re a good candidate for mouth taping.
No, nasal breathing is the preferred method of breathing. Your body’s natural instincts will take over and allow you to breathe comfortably during sleep. Always consult with your doctor if you’re feeling unsure about your ability to breathe through your nose.
Remove liner and apply adhesive side to closed mouth. Gently rub the adhesive against your skin to activate. Take a few relaxed breaths through your nose, shifting into a calm state of mind. Breathe through your nose for a full night of restful sleep.
Absolutely! Our gentle, non-toxic adhesive is medical grade and long lasting, so much so, you can reuse it for a second night. We offer two sizes for different adhesive strength. Find your best fit with our 10-NIGHT STARTER PACK.
Our medical grade adhesive has the ability to be reapplied and repositioned if in a rare case it falls off. Simply reapply and drift back to dream land!
In some cases mouth taping will change your sleep in one night! If you’re a heavy mouth breather you can experience the benefits of nasal breathing after a single sleep. You may wake up feeling more energetic, less foggy and groggy or have reduced jaw tension. If you typically have dry throat or bad breath, notice how you feel after mouth taping - if any of these symptoms go away you’re reaping the benefits of mouth taping. Yes, we recommend you use the mouth tape every night. Building a simple, consistent sleep routine like mouth taping increases the opportunity for a more deep, restful sleep which translates into more next-day energy. Who doesn’t want to sleep better and wake up feeling good!?
It’s best to consult with your doctor if you’re unsure of your ability to breathe through your nose. If you don’t have the time to consult a specialist we suggest taking a break from mouth taping until you feel better. You should always feel comfortable breathing freely before mouth tape at night.
It depends on how your deviated septum affects your nasal airflow. If you’re still able to comfortably breathe through your nose, even partially, you may benefit from mouth taping. However, if your septum makes nasal breathing difficult or causes frequent congestion, it’s best to speak with a doctor or ENT (ear, nose & throat specialist) before using mouth tape.
We always recommend testing your ability to nasal breathe comfortably before taping. If you can breathe through your nose for a few minutes without discomfort, you’re likely good to go. If not, focus on clearing the nasal passages first, or explore corrective options if it’s impacting your sleep and daily wellness.
Mouth taping is designed for adults. You should consult with a pediatrician or sleep specialist if you’re considering it for a child or teen. While supervised, a child or teen could try mouth taping during the day to gauge their comfortability. Nasal breathing has been shown to support proper jaw posture and formation, alongside reduced cavities and improved focus.
Yes—many functional medicine practitioners, sleep specialists, and dentists recommend mouth taping to improve sleep, reduce snoring, and support whole-body wellness. We believe it’s a wellness staple that’s here to stay!
Mouth taping is not a replacement for medical treatment of sleep apnea, but some mild cases may see improvement. Consult a sleep specialist before mouth taping if you suspect or have diagnosed apnea.

FAQ
benefits for sleep
Nasal breathing filters, humidifies, and warms the air, helping you sleep deeper and wake more refreshed. It also boosts nitric oxide production, supporting circulation and cellular repair.
Yes, it can! Many people experience frequent sleep disturbances due to mouth breathing, snoring, or disrupted oxygen flow. Mouth taping gently encourages nasal breathing which helps regulate airflow, supports deeper sleep cycles, and keeps the nervous system in a calmer state. This often results in fewer wakeups, longer stretches of uninterrupted rest, and a more restorative night’s sleep.
If you’re someone who tosses, turns, or wakes up feeling unrested (even after 7 to 8 hours) mouth taping might be the simple sleep upgrade you’ve been missing.
Absolutely! One of the most common causes of snoring is mouth breathing. Switching to nasal breathing with the help of mouth tape has been shown to reduce snoring frequency by 50%, plus support people with mild sleep apnea. Reducing your sleep disturbances from sleep ailments (snoring, apnea etc.) is a sure way to improve sleep quality.
Yes—mouth taping can dramatically reduce dry mouth and nighttime drooling by keeping your lips sealed. This leads to healthy moisture levels and reduced dehydration symptoms.

FAQ
energy, focus and overall health
Deep sleep fuels the brain, resets hormones, and restores your body’s energy systems. You wake up more alive, focused, and ready to take on your day. Check out the DREAM SPACE blog and learn why we prioritize sleep as the foundation of good energy!
That’s a great question. Better oxygenation and more restorative sleep improve clarity, memory, and concentration. When you mouth tape, you encourage deep nasal breathing. This in turn stabilizes the body’s CO2 and oxygen levels - a process that increases blood flow to the prefrontal cortex, improving focus, attention span, and mental stamina.
Yes—consistent deep sleep is essential for healing from burnout and supporting your nervous system. Alongside sleep, nasal breathing has also been shown to balance the nervous system and shift the body from ‘fight or flight’ to ‘rest and repair’. It’s in this state where our bodies can start to regenerate and heal from many ailments, such as burnout or chronic fatigue. Mouth taping is a gentle way to improve sleep quality and nervous system balance from night one!
Improved oxygen circulation means your body is getting and using oxygen more efficiently. When you breathe through your nose (instead of your mouth), the air is filtered, humidified, and slowed down—allowing your lungs to absorb more oxygen. That oxygen then travels through your bloodstream to your brain, muscles, and organs, generating improved energy, focus, and recovery!
Mouth taping promotes nasal breathing, which improves oxygen efficiency and supports deeper, more restorative sleep. This leads to better focus, mental clarity, and emotional regulation during the day. Slow, deep nasal breathing also stabilizes the body’s CO2 and oxygen levels. This process increases blood flow to the prefrontal cortex, improving focus, attention span, and mental stamina.
Athletes who practice nasal breathing boost endurance, optimize oxygen uptake, speed up recovery and reduce inflammation. By supporting your body’s natural breathing rhythm overnight, mouth taping helps to unlock sharper thinking and stronger physical performance.
Promoting nasal breathing (vs mouth breathing) can reduce oral health issues such as bad breath, dry mouth, cavities and gum disease. Nasal breathing also supports proper tongue posture, this ensures forward positioning of the jawbones leading to stronger facial skeletal development with extended use.
Yes, there’s a strong connection between mouth breathing and anxiety. Mouth breathing can trigger shallow, rapid breathing, which activates the body’s stress response and keeps the nervous system in a more alert, anxious state. In contrast, nasal breathing stimulates the parasympathetic “rest and digest” system, promoting calm and relaxation. By switching to nasal breathing through mouth taping, many people experience reduced feelings of anxiousness and greater emotional balance.
Nasal breathing directly influences the nervous system by stimulating the parasympathetic branch—your body’s “rest and repair” mode. This helps slow the heart rate, lower blood pressure, and calm the mind, making it easier to relax and fall into deep sleep. It also increases nitric oxide production, which enhances oxygen delivery and supports a balanced, regulated internal state. Simply put, nasal breathing helps your body shift out of stress and into recovery.
Sleep quality has a significant impact on metabolism. Deep, restorative sleep helps regulate key hormones like insulin, cortisol, leptin, and ghrelin—all of which influence appetite, fat storage, and energy use. Poor sleep can disrupt these hormones, leading to increased cravings, slower metabolism, and blood sugar imbalances. Prioritizing quality sleep supports a more efficient and balanced metabolic system!

We teamed up with a medical manufacturer and all of the material is manufactured in the USA. For us, a high quality standard is paramount, which is why we chose to work with a North American supplier.

Yes, you can! Each one of our mouth tape products is equipped with a small pack inside that holds the mouth tape strips safely and securely. We created these for travel to ensure that you get a deep sleep regardless of where you are in the world.
We feel good about being the only re-usable mouth tape on the market, but we know that there’s room for improvement in order to get to a fully sustainable tape. The liners are recyclable while the tape itself needs to be disposed of in your garbage bin.
